This Ministry is focused on serving in worship and praising God through music. In doing so, we nourish the musical abilities of our congregation, including singers and instrumentalists of all levels. We also bring the joys of music to people and places outside our regular worship schedule, including weddings, funerals, and visits in the community.

  • Wednesdays, 7-8:30 PM August through May

Choir sings at worship services and a variety of special occasions both in and outside the church. New members welcome! Anyone who is interested in making music and serving in worship has a place in the RELC music ministry, regardless of skill level. Musicians are always welcome to share their talents during worship and for special events.

Resurrection Lutheran and other congregations in the greater Columbus area partner with First English Lutheran Church (FELC) on various projects.  Our volunteers prepare and serve breakfast on Sundays and dinner on Thursdays to those living in the area of FELC. These free meals are offered every week to homeless, poor, and often food-insecure citizens in downtown Columbus, OH. They are paid for and served by a different partner congregation each week. See the Resurrection schedule below.

Resurrection hosts breakfast
  • 2nd Sunday every month
Resurrection hosts dinner
  • 4th Thursday of odd months.

Media Ministry is an integral part of our worship, whether it is sound, visual arts or technical support! Our worship services in the Family Life Center are projected using a PowerPoint presentation.  We also Livestream the service on our website.

This is a ministry that facilitates the flow of the service and ensures all are able to see and hear the Word. This team welcomes those interested in service through media production.

Charlie Anderson,

In partnership with Samaritan’s Purse, the members of RELC gather shoe boxes, wrapping paper, packing, and a variety of items to fill the boxes, as well as provide prayers for those who will receive these gifts. With loving care, members pack the boxes to spread the love of Jesus to children all over the world who live in difficult situations and do not know about God’s love.

Items are collected all year long and may be brought to the church office during the week (M-F 10-2) or on Sunday mornings. Donation boxes located adjacent to the rest rooms.

Barb Emmetts,

Under the supervision of the Pastor, the Pastoral Care Team regularly visits our homebound members or those in care facilities.

For more information, referrals, prayer requests, or visitation requests, contact the church office.

Lovingly stitched by this dedicated team, prayer shawls are continually being made to give to people going through tough times, to give comfort, peace, assurance, and a prayer that they are…anywhere, anytime, any place…loved by us and by God.

This team also takes on special projects such as baptismal shawls, wedding shawls, prayer patches for Operation Christmas Child boxes, and afghans to be raffled for the Youth Mission trip

Meetings are held the first Wednesday of the month at 10:00 am and the first Thursday of the month at 7:00 pm

Barb Emmetts,

To ensure that all students acquire a love of reading and are reading at or above their grade level at the end of the school year, RELC volunteers tutor at-risk first and second grade students at Hilliard Crossing Elementary School, in the Hilliard City School District. Students are paired with a single tutor, and both the volunteers and the students find the work together rewarding.

RELC church office,

Interested volunteers should contact the church office to sign up
(NOTE: all volunteers must have a background check to participate in this program.)

  • Our worship at RELC is guided by Lutheran liturgy. Liturgy = work of the people. Congregation members assist in various capacities during worship:

Greeters…Ushers…Readers…Acolytes…Assisting ministers…Communion distribution

Greeters:  Arrive 20 minutes before worship. Greet people at the outer doors, welcome visitors and members. Introduce visitors to others and answer any questions about where, when, what to expect, etc.

Ushers:  Greet all who come into the worship space. Assist with seating, direct visitors to complete a communication card. Introduce visitors to others and answer any questions about where, when, what to expect, etc.

Readers: Weekly lessons are sent out by Thursday so you can review. Readers speak from the pulpit – all ages welcome!

Acolytes: Typically this role is filled by 4th graders and up. They light the candles and are general helpers during worship. Training is available.

Assisting Ministers: assist the Pastor during worship with readings, prayers, communion distribution, etc.

We encourage all ages to lead during during worship!
